Protect Your Investment When Traveling to a Show or Class

Tools are an essential part of jewelry making. No matter what level maker you are—from occasional jewelry maker to full-fledged bench jeweler—you've probably spent a small fortune in acquiring the tools for your trade. And, if you're interested in learning more techniques, you'll probably take a class or workshop and end up carting your tools across town or, in my case, across the country. I recently shot several sessions for a soon-to-be-released DVD, Metalsmith Essentials: Basic Fabrication, and wound up shipping my tools 1,500 miles each way to the studio. As I looked out the window of the plane, I knew my babies were traveling as comfortably as I was, because I had protected them for their long journey.

My jewelry at Skywolf Galleries, Teton Village, Wyoming

Joseph Skywolf of Skywolf Galleries in Teton Village, Wyoming has started carrying my chain maille necklaces, bracelets and earrings in his store. I think the chain maille is a great fit with the lovely pendants and other Native American pieces he has in his store.

Zip lines in Olympic Park

As part of the girls week we had in Park City, Utah during our pseudo-SOAR, we knit, spun yarn, made jewelry, bought beads, bought yarn, bought other goodies, had great meals (thanks Leslie and Pat!) and in general had a whale of a time. To cap it off, we did our usual "stunt" at the end of the week. This time it was riding the zip lines at Utah Olympic Park:

I'm renting a Pygora goat

My friend Leslie is adding to her Pygora flock with a lovely little goat named Rapunzel. I'm getting to rent Rorie (as she is known to friends and family) for the year so all her lovely fleece will be all mine. The catch---I have to go Olympia, WA next year to help Leslie shear the flock. Ahh...too bad there are tons of yarn stores and bead stores in the general area. Someone has to do it...
