Dianne Gilleland has written a great e-book for creative people who want to start, or improve their own blogs. Making a Great Blog takes the reader from start of up-and-running through a series of guided exercises, list-making and thought provoking questions.
So many blogging books (and websites) tell you only the nuts-and-bolts parts of starting a blog: setting one up. Adding photos. Making links. And while this is important information, I think that the most important parts of blogging get left out:
• How to build an interesting and valuable blog.• How to create great blog posts and great photographs.
• How to keep your blogging inspiration flowing over time.
• The do’s and don’ts of blogger etiquette.
While there is plenty of information about the "how to" of getting a blog up and running, the ,most valuable part of this book is the questioning that Gillebland suggests each blogger answer before starting their blog.
Important things you should know before you begin your blog (or want to improve it if you have one already) include defining your target audience, brainstorming what subjects will your blog be about, and what you want to accomplish with your blog. Until you know the answers to these questions you'll never be able to produce a successful blog.
If you are a creative person who wants to start a blog or improve the blog you already have, I highly recommend Making a Great Blog.
